EVER wanted to know what Sidcup can do for a man?

Now you can find out thanks to a new website which allows anyone curious about Bexley’s past to buy snapshots of it online.

The site features images from across the borough in times gone by and includes a postcard from 1920 boasting of Sidcup’s virtues.

The humorous card is Bexley Local Studies and Archives head Simon McKeon’s favourite from among a collection nearly 4,000 strong.

He said: "The big guy is the complete opposite of what you would think of as a healthy bloke now.

"Then you have got the skinny little version of him before he lived in Sidcup."

Around 1,300 of the images are the work of keen amateur historian and professional photographer Arthur Henry Thomas Boswell who was born in June 1880.

Visitors can search for pictures by area thanks to an interactive map of the borough.

Mr McKeon added: "We have unique images of Bexley which you won’t find anywhere else."
