A 26-YEAR-OLD man is due to appear at Bromley Magistrates’ Court this morning accused of raping a woman in an Orpington churchyard.
James Isted, of Crutchley Road, Downham, has been charged with rape, assault on police and robbery.
The charges relate to an alleged incident in the grounds of All Saints Church, Church Hill, Orpington, at around 1.30pm on Tuesday (May 7).
Police were called to the scene after receiving reports of a man assaulting a woman at the location.
A suspect was arrested nearby.
A woman in her 20s was taken to hospital for treatment and has now been discharged.
A police officer required hospital treatment for a deep wound to his hand.
