COMMUTERS who struggled to get to work in London this morning should have a better journey home after the problems on the Dartford to London Bridge line were cleared.

London-bound train lines on the line became blocked after a train hit an obstruction on the tracks between Crayford and Hither Green at around 7.50am.

This caused the train to break down and also slightly damaged the conductor rail – which carries the power for the line - so all other services had to be terminated at their nearest station.

Network Rail engineers repaired the rail and restored the traction by around 11am so services could run normally.

They will be back working at the site near Hither Green overnight to complete their work.
