A LONG-SERVING charity worker from Welling who only recently stepped down from her fundraising duties has celebrated her 100th birthday.
Grandmother-of-one Katie Mucklejohn, known as Kit to her friends and family, raised thousands of pounds for Greenwich and Bexleyheath Community Hospice over more than 20 years.
Her daughter Carole Bramall, 63, organised for a party to mark her milestone at Riverdale Court Care Home in Dovedale Close on April 9.
She said: “She was always active and doing things – that’s the type of thing that kept her going. And me nagging, of course!
Mrs Mucklejohn was born in West Ham, Essex, and worked as a dress maker before marrying Victor and moving to Matfield Road in Belvedere in 1953.
The couple then moved to Bedonwell Road in Bexleyheath and up until two years ago mother-of-two Mrs Mucklejohn was an active fundraiser for the Greenwich and Bexleyheath Hospice.
“She’s bubbly, supportive, and always looking on the bright side,” added Mrs Bramall, of Cavendish Avenue, Northumberland Heath.
