MASTERCHEF presenter and self-confessed pudding addict Gregg Wallace was in Orpington on Tuesday promoting a new Weight Watchers hub - the first of its kind in London.

Mr Wallace has Weight Watchers to thank for his dramatic weight loss of recent years, which has left him feeling in the shape of his life.

He is a celebrity ambassador for the group, and told News Shopper: "A couple of years ago, when Weight Watchers approached me, I was already trying to lose weight myself and I'd lost a stone in one year.

"With Weight Watchers I lost my next stone in 12 weeks.

"It's so easy. Weight Watchers give you a number of Pro Points based on your sex, age, height and weight and that number tells you how much food you should be eating every day.

"You just need to stick to that, it's as simple as that."

Mr Wallace, who grew up in South East London and has a house in Whitstable, Kent, added: "I feel so much healthier and better.

"I cannot think of anything as important as the way you feel about yourself.

"You can have a career, money and a car, but you have to live with your body 24/7.

"It is the most important thing in your life."

The new Orpington hub can be found in Crofton Halls, Crofton Road, and hosts multiple meetings throughout the day, allowing local residents to get weight loss support.

Millwall fan Mr Wallace added: "They will help you get to the weight you want to be.

"I would also like to see more blokes come to Weight Watchers - the women here are very friendly and supportive plus they can't all be married."

Advice and motivation will be offered by Suki Chahil, 37, of Tile Road, Orpington, and Chanelle Wills, 33, of Gravesend.

Over the last few years the pair has lost 12 stone between them and they told News Shopper they hope to inspire others to follow in their footsteps.

They said: "We really want to help people all through the community.

"When people see what we have been through then they will start to think they can do it too. It really works."

Call Suki on 07809 399 416 or Chanelle on 07910 171 985 for more information and meeting times.
