AN AMY Winehouse and Lady Gaga inspired design saw a young hairdresser triumph at her college’s annual hair show.

Nicola Miller, 19, won first place in the avant garde category at Bromley College with her impressive towering curled style.

She used hair extensions, bottles and very strong hair gel to create the piece, which she then integrated into her 24-year-old cousin Becci’s hair.

Miss Miller is submitting her design to Blackpool Hair Fair 2014, where she hopes to compete.

First place in the bridal category was awarded to Antoniya Docheva, 38, who styled her model with a chic vintage up-do.

Abby Pettit won first place in the Disney category with a Mulan themed style.

The 18-year-old said: "The hair show was really exciting and it was great to win.

"I created the style using headed rollers, lots of backcombing and hairpieces, and finished it off with chopsticks and flowers."

Tracey Andrews, Curriculum Manager, said: "It’s great to see such creativity on show.

"They’ve all worked really hard on creating some fantastic styles."
