A GRAVESEND schoolgirl has been crowned young human rights reporter of the year by Amnesty International.
Victoria Coleman beat off competition from around 2,500 participants from nearly 200 schools to win top prize in the lower secondary category.
The 14-year-old attends Mayfield Grammar School and picked up her award at a central London ceremony from former Newsround presenter Sonali Shah.
Entrants aged seven to 18 had to write an article or report of up to 500 words on a human rights-related issue or submit a photograph.
Victoria said: "It feels brilliant to have won.
"I feel very privileged and honoured, especially as the other entries in my category were of such a high standard.
"I wrote about women’s rights in Afghanistan because I thought it was really unfair that women are treated differently because of their gender so I thought it would be a good thing to talk about."
