SAUSAGES tell the story of what happened when comedian Tibs Holland went the distance with the biggest foe of his life.

Mr Holland was confident he could defeat the Challenger Breakfast when he travelled the 237 miles from his home in Burnt Ash Lane, Bromley, to Castle Café in Rochdale.

But after about 10 minutes of eating he knew the over-full English would defeat him.

He said: “Apart from the sheer scale, there were multiples of everything and one of the big problems is you think you’re making good progress but then you see all the food buried under other stuff.

“It was just too much and way beyond what I could eat.”

He chowed down on 12 rashers of bacon, 12 sausages, an eight egg omelette with cheese, four portions of Spam, chips, tomatoes, baked beans, six fried eggs, four hash browns, six slices of black pudding, four slices of fried bread, four pieces of toast, and four slices of bread and butter.

Despite only managing to finish about half of the feast Mr Holland is not downhearted.

The 29-year-old added: “I went the distance with the biggest foe of my life.

“The people at the café said I managed more than anyone else.

“When that final bell rang I was still eating. I ate on through the pain and through the suffering because we all know it is not about how hard you hit, it is about how hard you can get hit and keep stuffing your face.”
