THE shortlist of six women who will put themselves forward as Labour’s prospective parliamentary candidate for Lewisham Deptford has been revealed.
Long-term MP Joan Ruddock is vacating the seat which is generally seen as one of Labour’s safest.
The all-women shortlist includes Brockley's Councillor Vicky Foxcroft and Whitefoot's Councillor Janet Daby, as well as Florence Nosegbe, Catherine McDonald, Paula Hirst, Mendora Ogbogbo.
Lambeth councillor Ms Nosegbe was previously beaten by Heidi Alexander to be the Labour candidate in Lewisham East and Catherine McDonald is currently a Southwark councillor.
The final candidate will be decided on May 18.
