THE EBBSFLEET United chairman is confident of striking a deal this afternoon to avoid the club being wound up.

Jessica McQueen has been locked in discussions with the HM Revenue and Customs today to agree a package to the keep the club alive.

Present owners MyFootballClub (MyFC) are currently handing over their 75 percent shareholding to the Fleet Trust and Philip Sonsara after a vote held at an open meeting last week.

But £20,000 is required to keep Ebbsfleet United alive, with a reported further £50,000 needed over a slightly longer period until new investment has been achieved.

Mrs McQueen told News Shopper: “We’re still in discussions with HMRC. We’ve got a substantial amount of money to offer them to hopefully give us more time.

“We’re as confident as we can be. If we make the offer, hopefully they will accept.

“We’re still fighting. People are saying pay it by noon or the club’s gone – it does not work like that.”

She is urging fans to dig deep into their pockets and make a donation, no matter how small.

She said: “The club are appealing to all supporters and anyone who wishes to help the club to make an immediate donation to ensure football continues at Stonebridge Road.

“Donations can be made over the telephone, by cheque in the post or calling at the club office.

“The club is open daily between 9.30am and 5pm Monday to Friday.”
