TRAINS are now back on schedule after a man killed by a train in Kent caused major disruptions to services across south-east London.

British Transport Police and Kent Police officers were called to the line close to Pilgrims Way Foot crossing near Sevenoaks at 8.45am today (April 27) to reports of man had been struck by a train.

Ambulance staff also attended but were unable to save him and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The train involved was travelling from Sevenoaks to Blackfriars. The incident is being treated as non-suspicious.

There were delays of around 90 minutes between London Victoria and Ashford International, which affected Swanley and Bromley South stations.

A replacement bus service was put on between Swanley and Sevenoaks as no trains were running through Otford.

Services between Sevenoaks and London Blackfriars, which usually stops at Swanley, Bromley South and Beckenham, were diverted via Orpington.

However at 1.45pm rail operator Southeastern said trains were running normally again.

Meanwhile, planned engineering works are causing further disruption for passengers today.

There are no trains from Charing Cross or Cannon Street to and from Orpington while Victoria to Orpington services will be extended to Sevenoaks.

Buses are being put on between Orpington and Lewisham.

Also trains between Grove Park and Bromley North are off today but tickets will be accepted on bus routes 162 and 261.
