A KNIFEMAN stabbed one man and murdered another after finding a love rival in bed with his ex-girlfriend, a court heard today.

Jurors were told Delaney Barnett-Rohoman stormed into the Eltham flat of Josie Hall, his former girlfriend and mother of his two children, at 3pm on October 20 last year.

The 27-year-old became angry after finding her in bed with Nash Walsh-Trew, 24, and went to the kitchen where he armed himself with two knives, prosecutor Peter Finnigan told Woolwich Crown Court.

He dropped one in the hallway as he tussled with Ms Hall when she tried to stop him, before he went back to the bedroom and attacked Mr Walsh-Trew, Mr Finnigan said.

The prosecutor told the court a friend of Mr Walsh-Trew tried to come to his aid.

Mr Finnigan said: “Harold Muzeremwi heard the commotion and rushed into the bedroom to assist his friend. “It was extremely brave of him to do so in the circumstances that presented themselves that afternoon.

“It was, however, a decision that was ultimately to cost him his life.”

Barnett-Rohoman, of Baring Road, Grove Park, severed Mr Muzeremwi's pulmonary artery in the attack, driving the knife in so hard he bent the tip, the court heard. Mr Finnigan said:

“Mr Muzeremwi collapsed to the floor, and the defendant looked at him and said 'You man are dead'.

“'The defendant then ran out of the flat, and as he did he said: 'You better call an ambulance for your boy, he's f***ed.’”

Mr Walsh-Trew also suffered three stab wounds, but survived and was discharged from hospital the following day.

Mr Muzeremwi, a law student at Bexley College, quickly lost consciousness, despite efforts of neighbours and paramedics to save him, and died at the scene.

As efforts to save Mr Muzeremwi were still going on, Barnett-Rohoman called Ms Hall to remonstrate with her.

Mr Finnigan added: “Josie heard him asking her how many times she had slept with her new boyfriend.

“He also asked other personal sexual questions, and called her a slag.

“He made various threats and wanted to know if police knew it was him responsible for the stabbings.”

Barnett-Rohoman is said to have discarded the bloodied knife on his way out of the block of flats in Kingsley Wood Drive in a flower bed after the attack.

He denies murder, attempted murder, and wounding with intent to cause GBH.

The trial continues.
