A WEST Wickham motorist pulled a man off his motorbike just before it burst into flames in a road in Beckenham last week.

David Ginn, 53, of Woodland Way, was driving down Eden Park Avenue on his way to work at around 7.30am last Friday (April 19).

He told News Shopper: "I was driving into work. There was a motorbike in front of my car.

"I noticed there was a spark from the engine. I didn't really know what to make of it so I waited.

"It kept going so I hooted at him but he either didn't hear me or was ignoring me.

"It was all a bit surreal. My mind starting saying 'is this real or is this not - do bikes normally have a glow coming from their engine?'

The next moment Mr Ginn saw a small flame in the bike's engine, with smoke coming from it, and he knew he had to act.

The father of three said: "I knew I had do something so I drove past him and cut him off and jumped out of the car.

"I grabbed him and told him he had to get off the bike."

Seconds later the bike had erupted into flames.

Mr Ginn added: "Then the bike went up in a massive ball of flames.

"It was like one of those oil wells.

"The way the bike went up he would have been burned to cinders."

The London Fire Brigade said they were called to a small fire in Eden Park Avenue at 7.51am on April 19. They dealt with the fire within 10 minutes.
