LOTS of bangs for no bucks are on offer to anyone who can help out a Beckenham-based fireworks company with its unusual problem.

Knights of Fire (KOF) designed a five minute display last year for a competition which was designed to show what can be achieved using fireworks available to members of the public.

But the contest was cancelled last year and has been cancelled again this year so the company is now looking for a place to stage the display.

Company director Chris Hinze said: “We have a professionally-designed display and nowhere to fire it.

“Like all firework displays, we need a reasonable amount of space to fire the show – 25 metres from the crowd and any other people as a minimum and we would need to undertake a risk assessment before agreeing but we are keen to do the show – we would hate to see it just sit on a shelf and go to waste.”

The display has been themed around the Dambusters film including extracts from the soundtrack and includes a number of effects including catherine wheels and waterfalls.

It could be timed to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the successful raid on the German dams by the Royal Air Force’s 617 squadron on May 16 and 17.

Mr Hinze added: “If someone was interested in hosting the show then we would be happy to talk to them.

“They would have to take the responsibility for the event organisation and audience but we would provide the display itself free of charge, although we would appreciate a small contribution towards any travel and crew costs and maybe a donation to the RAF Benevolent Fund.”

A simulation of the display, including the music, can be seen online at vimeo.com/62293315
