AN INVESTIGATION is underway after a Gravesend mum claimed a woman tried to snatch her two-year-old son in a Beckenham park.

Bromley police officers went to Kelsey Park yesterday (April 21) to ask people whether they saw the incident which Ronie Holden says happened at about 3.20pm on Saturday.

They are also looking at CCTV from the area to see if they can spot the suspects.

Ms Holden says she was out walking with her aunt Margaret Seale, son Michael and his dad when two women in their 30s approached them on the bridge over the pond.

The 21-year-old says one of the women positioned herself between her and her aunt and tried to grab blonde Michael by his clothing.

The Forge Lane resident claims she confronted her before the woman "panicked" and walked swiftly away behind her companion, along with two young boys and a girl who had earlier crossed the bridge on bikes and scooters.

An emotional Miss Holden told News Shopper: "She pulled Michael’s jumper and tried to shove him along.

"I just had an instinct it was going to happen."

The mother-of-one says the woman claimed to have mistaken Michael for one of her own kids when she confronted her.

Miss Holden added: "Her kids weren't toddlers and were much older.

"It all happened so quickly.

"It’s made me feel scared.

"They might have had kids with them but it isn’t going to stop them from going round and kidnapping other children.

"I wouldn’t wish that on anyone."

Miss Holden says the women were both "foreign-looking" and one of them was wearing a pink jumper.

Bromley police is asking anyone who was in Kelsey Park on Saturday afternoon and saw what happened to give them a call on 101.
