DETECTIVES say they are no longer investigating an attempted child snatching in Dartford town centre.

A Facebook message posted on Monday evening was shared more than 2,200 times in the past five days, causing concern among parents, teachers and carers across the town.

But this afternoon, Kent Police has confirmed an investigation into the alleged crime in Priory Street is no longer on-going.

A spokeswoman said after speaking with the person who reported the incident again, they have concluded no crime was committed.

The original message posted on Facebook described how a woman was alleged to have grabbed a child in the town centre and dragged him down the street.
