A SCHOOL in West Wickham have won the right to represent Bromley in the Fourth Plinth Award 2013.

A piece of work was submitted by yellow class, whose ages range between six and seven, from Hawes Down Infant School in the Mead, West Wickham.

The aim of the competition is to create an image which is inspired by the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square and the kids beat off stiff competition with pieces of work being submitted from all corners of the borough.

The culmination of their work was an interpretation of a traditional red London bus was created using only the children's bodies and coloured clothing. The class lay on the ground to create the shape of the bus and they were photographed from above.

The picture can now be seen in City Hall in London and they have been invited to an awards ceremony on April 23.

The school’s head teacher, Gill Duffin said: "The children are all very excited to have won.

"The inspirational and novel idea came from one of her teachers, Jodie Stokes, and it was very brave of her."
