TWO men in their 40s have been taken to hospital with one in a critical condition following a New Cross assault this morning.
Police were called to the scene of the Queens Road junction with Pomeroy Street at 5.40am.
A spokeswoman for Lewisham police said: "Two men, both aged in their mid-40s, have been taken to a south London hospital."
One is in a critical condition while the other has been treated for minor injuries.
No arrests have been made so far. Police have confirmed the incident did not involve a gun or knife.
Roads have reopened following an earlier police cordon but there are still reports of congestion in the area.
