A PAIR of suspected burglars stopped in Germany with £180,000 worth of stolen items are thought to have acquired some of them in Welling and Bromley.

The two Romanian nationals in their mid 20s had their van stopped and searched in Baumberg on December 16 last year but had to be released as they had committed no crime in Germany.

Among the array of laptops, cameras, mobile phones and watches recovered by police, are items thought to be linked to a pair of burglaries in Welling and one in Bromley. Bexley Police is awaiting the return of the stash from Germany.

A spokesman said: "German police passed all the information to the Met and Bexley Burglary Squad is continuing the investigation.

"We have before us a mammoth job in identifying the owners of the seized items.

"All appear to be stolen property and after checking the registration database and our Met-wide files, we will need the help of the public.

"Photographs of the many items are likely to be made public in the hope members of the public will be able to recognise their property."
