THE EX-GIRLFRIEND of murder accused Tom Fuller has spoken of the moment he told her Natalie Jarvis was dead.

Maidstone Crown Court heard how Stephanie Kinchlea, who dated Fuller for four-and-a-half years, was told to “sit down” before he told her what had happened.

Giving evidence on day four of the trial, Miss Kinchlea told jurors about a telephone conversation she had with Fuller on October 5, two days after Miss Jarvis was stabbed.

She said: “Tom said 'sit down, I've got something to tell you.'

“He said 'Adam’s killed someone’ and I said 'what?'

“He repeated 'Adam's killed someone.'

“I just thought he was joking and he was like ‘no’.

“To be quite honest it was sort of a blur. I can't remember all of it.”

Miss Kinchlea, whose relationship with Fuller ended in February last year, said she was “crying hysterically” during the conversation.

She said: “I could hear something about the boot of the car but honestly I really couldn't hear what he was saying.

“I can't remember if it was on that day he said Adam cut someone's throat.”

She said Fuller went on to say he was “going to his sister’s to get away from it all because he was really upset and in shock.”

Five days later, on October 10, Miss Kinchlea visited Fuller on his birthday.

She told the court: “He basically said he went out with Adam that night and then on the way home they went to meet Adam’s girlfriend.

“Adam told Tom to get in the boot because there might be boys there who were going to start on him.

“He said he was in the boot and he could hear Adam and his girlfriend arguing and her saying 'get off me Adam.’

"He said he heard her say 'if there's someone else in the boot I am going to kill you both."

Whelehan, of Roseberry Drive, Sidcup, killed his 23-year-old girlfriend Miss Jarvis because he “wanted out of the relationship and the only way out he could see was to kill her.”

She was found dead on the ground in Swanley Village Road after suffering more than 20 stab wounds to her neck on October 3 last year.

The prosecution alleges Fuller, 23, of Oakley Drive, Eltham, was the “getaway driver.”

Whelehan and Fuller deny murder.

The trial continues.
