SWANLEY knife victim Natalie Jarvis cried "I'm dying, please call my mum" as her boyfriend slashed her throat, a court heard today.

Miss Jarvis, 23, was found dead on the ground in Swanley Village Road after suffering more than 20 stab wounds to her neck on October 3 last year.

The prosecution alleges that Adam Whelehan, aged 23, of Roseberry Drive, Sidcup, murdered his girlfriend Miss Jarvis because he "wanted out of the relationship and the only way out he could see was to kill her".

Whelehan drove Miss Jarvis to a car park in Button Road, Swanley, at about 10.30pm.

This afternoon Maidstone Crown Court heard how Whelehan told his friend Steven Hughes about Miss Jarvis's cries for help after driving to meet him around midnight.

Giving evidence, Mr Hughes said: "He said he had stabbed her in the throat and threw her into the bushes and he did not realise his own strength.

"The only thing I can remember about the exchange is Natalie saying to Adam 'please can you call my mum'.

"He told me he said to her 'I'm not going to call your mum for you'."

After further questions from prosecutor Ian Acheson, Mr Hughes added: "The only other thing to do with the exchange is he said she said 'I'm dying', which was said before 'please call my mum'."

Mr Hughes met Whelehan about four years ago while working together at Morrison's in Sidcup.

It is also alleged Thomas Fuller, of Oakley Drive, Eltham, also 23, was the "getaway driver".

Whelehan picked up Miss Jarvis from her home with friend Fuller hiding in the boot of his car, the court has heard.

He drove to a country lane car park in Swanley Village before getting out with Miss Jarvis about 10.50pm and "by the time he returned to the car, then driven by Fuller, she lay dead".

Whelehan admitted killing Miss Jarvis, who he had been seeing since the summer, but says he did it in "lawful self-defence".

Fuller and Whelehan both deny murder.

The trial continues.
