A GREENWICH music school is celebrating the 70th birthday of one of its professors with a special concert tonight.

The music faculty of Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance will put on a piece by composition professor Stephen Montague, who was previously the school’s composer in residence from 2003 to 2004.

His Requiem: The Trumpets Sounded Calling Them to the Other Side will be played, along with a Copland’s Billy the Kid Suite and Piano Concerto No.1 by Prokofiev which features pianist Lucie Czajkowska: winner of the Trinity Laban 2012 Soloists’ Competition.

Sian Edwards is welcomed back as conductor and Angela Hicks will sing mezzo soprano.

The concert starts at 7.30pm at the Great Hall, Blackheath Halls, 23 Lee Road, Blackheath.
