THE longest running fire in Bromley's history came to an end today (March 27), as the fire brigade left the St Paul's Cray site.
Tens of firefighters had been battling the blaze, which broke out at the Waste4Fuel recycling plant off Sevenoaks Way on March 18.
Nine days later the fire seems to have finally given up its fight.
The fire brigade will continue to check the site every four hours.
The blaze has lasted...
- More than twice the duration of the Great Fire of London, which lasted for four days in September 1666.
- More than four times as long as Britney Spear’s marriage to childhood friend Jason Alexander in 2004, which lasted 55 hours.
- The time it would take to fly from London Heathrow to Sydney, Australia, nine times
- More than twice as long as Dave Bassett’s first spell as Crystal Palace manager in 1984, which lasted four days.
