A MAJOR police offensive is underway this morning (March 27) against street level drug dealing and cannabis farms in the borough of Bromley.

The second day of Operation Hawk is seeing Safer Neighbourhood officers, supported by specialist colleagues, executing drugs warrants in response to community tip-offs.

The last operation was in September 2012, and resulted nine arrests and the seizure of weapons, drugs and stolen property across the borough.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Furphy, leading today's operation in Bromley, said: "Drug dealing and cannabis cultivation damage communities and generate organised and violent crime, money laundering and anti-social behaviour.

"The Metropolitan Police Service is determined to tackle this issue head on with the assistance of London's communities.

"Community intelligence passed to us will be dealt with as quickly as possible and carefully assessed before any action is taken.

"We will then tell communities what action we have taken to address these issues.

"With your help, we can make your local community safer."

Members of the public who have information about who is dealing drugs in their area are urged to contact their local Safer Neighbourhoods Team or dial 101, the police non emergency number.

If you wish to remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
