A BEXLEYHEATH school has thrown its support behind the Bring the Queen to Bexley campaign.

Earlier this month schools across the borough took part in a red, white and blue day, with pupils at St Thomas More Catholic Primary School, in Sheldon Road, raising £334 for the appeal.

The sculpture of the Queen is set to be unveiled in the south plinth of the Clock Tower in Bexleyheath Broadway, on June 9.

Headteacher Colette Doran-Hannon said: “The children thoroughly enjoyed being dressed in their fine red, white and blue and many has a dance at lunchtime to support the bid.

“It is very important children have the opportunity to demonstrate national pride.”

Schools participating with the fundraising will be invited to attend the unveiling of the sculpture whilst those raising more than £1,000 will get their name engraved on the plaque.
