BROMLEY schools are being encouraged to get competitively environmental by recycling their WEEE.

So far 22 schools across the borough have already signed up to the WEEE Free Week competition, with the first 16 schools having recycled nearly eight tonnes of waste electrical and electronic equipment.

Each participating school is given a bright pink skip for one week so children and parents can clear out their old electrical and electronic equipment.

At the end of the competition, in June, the school which has collected the most for recycling will win a cash prize.

It is being run by Veolia Environmental Services in partnership with Bromley Council and waste electronics recycler SWEEEP Kuusakoski.
