Welling primary school trio crowned spelling champions

YEAR 11 pupils from Danson Primary School in Welling have been crowned spelling champions.

Jeevana Thavarajah, Dhruti Halai and Manisha Halkhoree scored 72 points, eight clear of runners-up Bursted Wood to win the fourth annual Primary Schools Spelling Bee challenge. Old Bexley CE Primary School finished third.

Eleven primary schools from across Bexley took part in the competition at Bexleyheath Academy on Wednesday, March 20.

Carl Wakefield, the principal of Bexleyheath Academy, presented the winning trio with certificate, a dictionary and a £10 book token each.

The other schools which took part were Lessness Heath, Christchurch, Upland, St. Thomas More, Gravel Hill, Hillsgrove, Barnehurst and Pelham.

Surely that is cheating, if they have year 11 pupils. As far as I'm aware primary school only goes up to year 6!!!
