PUPILS at a Swanley school enjoyed a day of sport led by beach volleyball star Jake Sheaf.

Twenty-two-year-old Jake, who represented Team GB at London 2012, visited students at Orchard Academy in St Mary's Road yesterday to show them the best of his volleyball skills.

Born in Sidcup and a former Dartford Grammar School student, Jake is currently British beach volleyball champion and now wants to raise awareness of beach volleyball as an elite sport.

Kirstyn Michalczyk, who is in year nine, said: “Jake showed us how to play volleyball and what it takes to be an elite performer in a sport - a lot of hard work and dedication.”

Jake’s visit was part of Sky Sports’ Living for Sport project, which aims to promote confidence through sport.

He said: “The programme is intended to give students the confidence to overcome anything and not give up on their dreams.

“I hope I can inspire them to do just that.”
