Lewisham Council online advice on benefit changes
LEWISHAM Council has put a host of advice about upcoming changes to the benefit system on its website.
New web pages outline the changes, providing information and advice, while the spring edition of Lewisham Life will feature an article on money management and places to get more advice.
People in receipt of benefit payments will also receive an information leaflet with this month's council tax bill.
In Lewisham more than 700 households have been identified by the council as being directly affected by the cap on benefit payments being introduced this summer.
More than two thirds of those are single parents and the majority live in the private rented sector.
Other changes to welfare include under-occupation rules if people have more bedrooms than they are judged to need, scrapping of crisis loans and a new universal credit system.
Visit the council website to find out more.
