A YEAR after News Shopper launched a brand new cardiac support group, members have celebrated their first anniversary.

The Ace of Hearts (AOH) cardiac support group was launched in March last year by people who have suffered from cardio vascular conditions to support each other.

Throughout last year, the group met monthly to share their experiences and hear from expert speakers.

Last Wednesday, members headed to Crayford Community Centre to celebrate a year of the group and to hear from ITV celebrity chef Sally Bee, who has survived multiple heart attacks despite only being 36.

The Mayor of Bexley, Councillor Alan Downing and Bexley Council’s leader, Councillor Teresa O’Neill, were among guests.

AOH healthy living leader Amanda Mitchell said: “It was just amazing, that is all I can say.

“Sally Bee spoke about her past and she was an inspiration to everybody.

“Last year’s mayor, Councillor Ray Sams, was there with his wife Diane and they made a very contribution to the Ace of Hearts which is going to hopefully help us with our future projects.”

The AOH will next meet on at 1pm on April 10 at Frognal House, in Frognal Avenue, Sidcup.
