MOTORISTS travelling toward the Dartford Crossing this morning were greeted by the sight of UKIP Leader Nigel Farage protesting.

The MEP joined campaigners against the tolls on an overpass at Junction 1A of the M25, where he rolled out his Scrap the Tolls campaign.

Along with a local campaign team, Mr Farage unfurled banners as rush hour traffic began to build up at 8am, with many hooting their support as they passed.

Mr Farage said: "Whichever way you look at it, these tolls are a disgrace.

“They're bad for business, bad for the environment, and they represent 30 years of broken promises by politicians who promised they would go when the crossing was paid for, which it was several years ago.

"Motorists are treated like a cash cow by a money-hungry government with no clue how to balance the books or boost the economy."

UKIP members protested this morning against all five toll roads in the country, as well as against the congestion charge in London.
