Bromley jewellery business sets a shining example to other shops
A BROMLEY jewellery business has celebrated a glittering few months after being shortlisted for a national award and opening a second shop.
Flawless Jewellery came second in the British Jewellery Association (BJA) Retailer of the Year competition in December last year.
The business has two branches in Green Lane, Chislehurst and a newly opened shop in Westerham High Street.
Owner Robert Bicknell has been in the jewellery trade for 25 years and works in the family-run firm with his daughter Shannon Urwin.
Last May, they met the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh at the 2012 Diamond Jubilee Exhibition in Bromley and presented her with six pieces of jewellery, one for each decade of Her Majesty’s reign.
Ms Urwin said: "My father once owned a workshop in Hatton Garden and provided antique restoration in Bond Street including work for the Queen Mother. He went into the business at 15 when he did a five year apprenticeship.
"As well as the BJA Awards, we have been nominated and selected as finalists in both the Bromley Business Awards and the South London Business Awards for Best Customer Service and Best Independent Retailer."
The firm moved into the Westerham premises last summer after extensive refurbishment.
She said: "The shop was transformed by a team of specialists who turned this previously run down florist into a beautiful bespoke jewellery shop.
"However they were careful to leave original features so the overall feel of the shop remains in keeping with the period of the build."
They design and create all of their own jewellery at their in house workshop in Chislehurst, specialising in handmade commissions, repairs, engagement and wedding rings, watch servicing and batteries, along with valuations and antique restorations.
