A 24-YEAR-OLD Gravesend man has been handed a community order after being found in possession of £100 counterfeit cash.

Daniel O’Connell, of Valley Drive, pleaded guilty to possessing counterfeit currency and a bladed article in a public place following an incident in Bromley.

O’Connell was arrested after his Peugeot 306 was seen acting suspiciously on the A21 near to the Princess Royal University Hospital by officers out on routine anti-burglary patrols.

As police passed O'Connell's vehicle he attempted to hide his face.

Upon stopping and searching the vehicle, £100 in counterfeit £20 notes were found hidden in it, along with a lock-knife.

Appearing at Bromley Magistrates Court on March 6, O’Connell was ordered to undertake 80 hours unpaid work.

He must also pay £145 court costs.
