OFFICERS are investigating two incidents at Clock House and Beckenham Junction stations where passengers were threatened by a man who wanted money and a mobile phone.

During the first incident a 41-year-old man from Lambeth was using a cash machine at Beckenham Junction when a man threatened to fight him for money.

The victim did not hand over any cash and so the other man walked away and boarded a train towards Bromley South.

Three days after this incident a different 41-year-old man, from Beckenham, was targeted at Clock House Station.

He was using his phone at the station when he passed a man who was sitting on a bench.

This man threatened to take the victim’s phone and then followed him around the station and threatened him with violence.

British Transport Police has issued CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the incidents, which happened at around 10.30am on January 26 and 3.10pm on January 29.

Detective Constable Oliver Gilbert said: “Fortunately, neither victim was harmed on each occasion, but both felt the man would carry out his threat of violence and steal their property.

“I would encourage anyone who recognises the man in the pictures to come forward as they could help our ongoing investigation.”
