A WOOLWICH man and his bull mastiff dog have been rescued from a bungalow blaze.

Fourteen fire crew in two fire engines from Woolwich and Eltham tackled this morning's blaze in Kempt Street which damaged several rooms in the building.

A man was rescued by firefighters from the London Fire Brigade wearing breathing apparatus.

He and a woman who had escaped from the house were taken to hospital suffering from smoke inhalation by ambulance crews

The fire broke out at 1.43am today and was under control at 2.15am.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
