A PLUMSTEAD woman has been rescued from a burning flat by firefighters today (March 15).

Four fire engines are still at the scene in Polthorne Grove.

The fire broke out in a ground floor flat of a two storey block.

One woman was rescued from the flat by fire fighters with breathing apparatus and is being treated by the London Ambulance Service.

Fire engines from Plumstead, East Greenwich, Woolwich, and Erith stations are at the blaze.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage.
