Sidcup Manor House to hold first open morning

ELEGANT Manor House in Sidcup will hold its first open morning on March 23.

The grade two listed building, on The Green, is best known as a venue for weddings and civil partnership ceremonies but Bexley Council is now keen to promote it for other uses.

Less formal occasions, such as ‘themed’ events can also be held in the house, as well as the renewing of vows and naming ceremonies.

During the open morning, visitors will have the chance to see the house’s elegant ceremony rooms and landscaped grounds.

There will also be the chance to ask questions, check availability and make bookings for the big day.

Sidcup Manor House is open between 9.30am and 12.30pm.

"Elegant landscaped grounds" Not so elegant over the past 18 months or so. People trample through the rose beds at the front and have worn a path. fencing at the front has fallen into disrepair. The grounds are used by people looking for a place to sit and eat and they leave their rubbish behind when they leave. Fag ends accumulate around the front door and the grounds, especially at the side where wedding photographs are taken has deteriorated. Haven't seen inside for a while, but last time I looked, it was very tired and in need of a spruce up. Maybe that has been done by now, as I see there is to be an open day. It's a fine building, but does need money spent on it to keep up appearances. I hope I am not being unfair, and I will take a look tomorrow and see if things have improved since last I looked earlier this year.

The grounds have been unkemped and neglected since Bexley cut staff, muddy paths, cut by shoppers to Morrisons, criss cross the site , I went to see the site with a view to having my wedding there , but no thanks.
