Brockley murder inquiry after 48-year-old man dies

A MURDER investigation has been launched following the death of a 48-year-old man in Brockley on Tuesday.

Police were called at 7.20pm to a residential address on Upper Brockley Road after reports of a disturbance.

Officers and London Ambulance Service attended where they found the victim who had collapsed. He later died in a south London hospital at 9.20pm.

A resident of Upper Brockley Road, who did not want to be named over fears for her safety, said: "The ambulance men carried the man out of the house.

"They were pumping his chest as they carried him out and pumping his chest in the ambulance.

"There were flashing lights and lots of police cars and one ambulance."

Two men have been arrested in connection with the investigation and remain in custody at a south London police station.

Formal identification of the man’s identity is yet to be made and a post-mortem examination is currently being held at Greenwich Mortuary.

Detectives from the Homicide and Serious Crime Command, led by DCI Cliff Lyons, are investigating.
