WINTRY weather may have returned to Bexley this week but ice cream lovers in Blackfen were still up for trying out some different flavours.

The Co-Op’s distinctive Fairtrade ice cream van rolled into town last Wednesday, stopping off at the supermarket in Westwood Lane.

Celebrating Fairtrade Fortnight, the van offered shoppers the chance to try Ben and Jerry’s Fairtrade ice cream.

The Co-Op’s Fairtrade chocolate brownies as well as bananas and orange juice were also available to try for those counting the calories.

The Co-Op’s South London membership officer Jane Lambert said: “We’d all love it if a guilt-free ice cream had been invented, but until that day comes, this is as near as you can get.

“Making the switch to Fairtrade ice cream will help enable people living in some of the world’s poorest countries to escape poverty.”
