ORPINGTON MP Jo Johnson spoke to local businesses last week, in a seminar which highlighted their importance to the recovery of the economy.
The event, hosted by Barclays, was held at the Hisar Meze Bar restaurant in Orpington High Street on March 8.
40 local business people heard presentations from Mr Johnson on the local economy and how the government is supporting business growth and from Barclays on access to finance.
Area Business Manager Harvey Reid said: "Local businesses are the lifeblood of the economy and my team has been working hard to support our customers through the recession.
"This event provided an opportunity for business people to take some time out from the pressures of running their companies, hear more about how Barclays can support them, and to network with other local people who face many of the same challenges."
Mr Johnson said: "It was great to have the opportunity to listen to local businesses and to talk about the government’s efforts to improve access to finance.
"It is doing everything within its power to ensure that small businesses have the necessary access to funding for future success – and I am confident that Orpington is going to continue to be part of that success story."
