DARTFORD will host one of the biggest St George’s Day parades in the country this year, with 500 youngsters from eight schools celebrating the patron saint of England.

It will be third time the town has hosted the event, which will include a model of St George built by schoolchildren and a variety of colourful music and performances by dance groups.

Dartford Council leader, Councillor Jeremy Kite said, “This is the third time we have hosted the St George’s Day Parade here in the town and it’s always a spectacular event which shows the hard work that is put in by local young people.”

The parade on April 23 will begin at One Bell Corner at 1pm and will head down the high street, before concluding at the bandstand in Central Park at 2.30pm.
