A FOOTBALL match is to be held in memory of promising soccer starlet Kaine May who was killed on the A20.

The 14-year-old from Wansunt Road, Bexley, died after being hit by a car outside Flamingo Park on the border of Chislehurst and Sidcup in July 2011.

The talented Kemnal Technology College student was on the books of Chelsea FC.

Another of Kaine’s former teams, FC Sutton Dynamo, has agreed to host a memorial match at Sutton at Hone’s recreation ground, Parsonage Lane, on Saturday, May 4.

The 11-a-side match will take place between Gillingham Ladies and a team chosen by Kaine’s best friend Kieran Owusu.

Hannah Gauci, 21, a family friend of Kaine’s parents who helped arrange the event, said: "We have done this to ensure Kaine’s memory will always live on in the hearts of people that knew him and people’s lives he touched.”

Kaine’s Day starts at 11am and will include a bouncy castle, face painting, stalls selling cakes and sweets and Kaine May memorial wristbands.

All proceeds will go to Brake, a leading charity promoting road safety awareness and who were “a tower of strength” to Kaine’s family after his sudden passing.

Donations can be left by visiting www.justgiving.com/KaineMay.
