Bexleyheath autistic teenager Patrick Haswell produces animated film

AN AUTISTIC Bexleyheath teenager enjoyed a taste of red carpet glamour thanks to a film he helped produce.

Patrick Haswell, 16, attended the premiere of Window Into Our World at the Curzon cinema in Soho on March 2 along with nine other autistic teens who co-produced the piece.

The filmmakers used the stop-motion animation to highlight stress and anxiety issues experienced by those who have a lifelong developmental disability.

The stop-motion technique makes a physically manipulated object appear to move on its own and was used to make Wallace and Gromit.

Window Into Our World was one of three short films shown as part of production company Chocolate Film’s Point of View project.

The Oakhurst Avenue resident said: "I really enjoyed taking part in this film project.

"I learned a lot about filmmaking and really hope that lots of people watch it and become more aware of young people with autism like me."

Patrick's film will soon be available to view online at autism.org.uk
