Dartford Council helps Sevenoaks District Council save £400,000

A SHARING arrangement between Dartford Council and Sevenoaks District Council has saved £400,000, it is claimed.
The two authorities share their Revenues and Benefits department and Environmental Health service.
A statement from Sevenoaks said without the £1.5m saved by shared arrangements to date, the council would have to cut services thanks to a 40 per cent reduction in its government grant in the last three years.
The council first began a joint working programme more than 10 years ago.
Sevenoaks District Council cabinet member for finance, Councillor Brian Ramsay, said: "Partnership working promotes the sharing of good practice and pooled resources mean this saves a considerable sum of tax payers’ money every year.
"It is essential we protect frontline services in the face of cuts in government funding and we are constantly exploring different ways to provide the same high quality services."
