Free Bromley app for smartphones launched

BROMLEY now has its own app to give people the lowdown on information, offers and news.

The Bromley Big Local App, which is free to download, allows smart phone users to easily access local information including council services, leisure centres, cinema and theatre listings, as well as a what’s on guide and deals from local businesses and attractions.

It has been created with Apple and Google Play and can be downloaded from the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Portfolio Holder for renewal and recreation Councillor Peter Morgan said:  “As well as showing information about shops and restaurants locally, the Bromley App will even direct the user to the desired destination, making this a powerful tool for businesses to engage with their customers.”

Bromley businessman Saj Maharaj who introduced the Bromley Big Local App said: “Want to see the menu at your favourite local restaurant, what’s showing at the theatre or looking for a reputable plumber or a discount at a local beauty salon?

"It is all on your Big Local App.”

I just installed it. Crashed 3 times in first few minutes. Icons are stupidly small on my tablet. Does nothing more than what you can do with Google.

Quite an amateur app, and not up to modern app standards. Don't bother installing, there are much better apps for finding local info on both iOS and Android.

Installed on my iphone and it looks great. I like the idea behind it but its clear that it will become even more useful when more local businesses and local deals are added. I like the fact that my favourite restaurant Don Giovanni is sharing its menus on the app. How about a voucher Don?

I downloaded the app a week ago - got a leaflet at the leisure centre. It has exercise class schedules, quick access to cinema times, Churchill Theatre show info and a directory of local businesses. Not sure why only some restaurants have menus and not others - guess new ones are being added? And it hasn't crashed yet.
