Charlton police appeal over bleeding man dressed in underwear
CHARLTON thieves allegedly assaulted a man, stabbed him in the face and stripped him - leaving him wandering the streets in only his underwear.
On March 2 at around 7pm, people called the police after noticing man in Rathmore Road, Charlton, who was bleeding and wearing only his pants.
Witnesses say the man claimed to have been assaulted, stabbed in the face and had his clothes stripped from him during the attack.
He is described as a black man, in his twenties, who appeared to have come from Victoria Way and was heading towards Troughton Road.
Police used a helicopter and dogs to search for him but the scent led them only to Troughton Road where all traces seemed to vanish.
Officer in the case Detective Constable Stephanie Chance said: "We believe that someone may have picked this man up and this is, possibly, the reason why our dogs can not follow his scent past Troughton Road.
"We are keen to trace this man, check on his welfare and find out what happened."
