Nearly all future Bexley year sevens get top three school choice

NEARLY all prospective secondary school pupils in Bexley have been offered their first, second or third choice of school.

Ninety-seven per cent of future year sevens will go to one of their top three, with nearly 80 per cent getting their first choice.

More than one per cent of 2,588 applicants were not offered places at any of their six preferred schools, but have been offered them at the closest school to their home with vacancies.

Forty-eight youngsters who missed the deadline for applications altogether have still been offered places.

If all places are accepted after the offers were sent to parents on March 1, 11 secondary schools in Bexley will be full but five will still have spaces.

Cabinet member for education Councillor John Fuller said: “I am very pleased that we have been able to give so many children a place at their preferred school.”
