Bexleyheath schoolchildren at St Thomas More Catholic Primary School celebrate Spanish week
4:33pm Monday 4th March 2013 in News By Alan Woods
THE sun shone on a primary school in Costa del Bexleyheath this week as youngsters spent the week learning about Spain.
Students at St Thomas More Catholic Primary School, in Sheldon Road, celebrated One World Week by discovering more about the country.
Throughout the week, the children studied the climate and landscape of the country in geography lessons whilst artist Salvador Dali became the topic of art classes.
Spanish-speaking parents also lead conversational lessons, teaching some basic key phrases.
But there was no time for a siesta when the event culminated on Friday with the children enjoying the opportunity to learn some Flamenco dance moves.
Deputy headteacher Jennifer McGuigan said: “By developing initiatives like this in school, we can ensure that pupils are kept enthused by the brilliantly detailed lessons planned by their passionate teachers.
“From reception up to Year 6, everyone got fully involved and embraced all things Spanish for the week.”
Parents visited the school on Friday afternoon where they were able to view the work their children had produced during the week.
