WHEN you put on deodorant in the morning do you ever imagine it could rocket you off into space?
David Harris is allergic to deodorant but he hopes this will not be a barrier to becoming one of the UK’s first space tourists.
He has entered the Lynx Space Academy competition, with the ultimate prize from the deodorant company being a trip into space.
The father-to-be has always been fascinated by space travel so hopes his dream will come true.
He is convinced space travel could one day be the norm and would like to be one of the first to give it a go.
Mr Harris, of Sevenoaks Road, Orpington, said: "How many people can say they’ve been into space?
"It should be a lovely view from up there."
So far the 41-year-old has amassed more than 150 votes on the academy website and needs to finish in the top 200 people to get through to the next round.
If successful he will battle it out at a UK national challenge at a secret location in London which will consist of a series of mental and physical tests that will push participants’ abilities to their limit.
The owner of Pratts Bottom based business Mid Kent Homes says he is not put off and excited about the tasks ahead.
He added: "I love a challenge."
Mr Harris used to be a helicopter pilot and is enthusiastic about all types of aviation.
To help make his next mode of transport a rocket you can go to the Lynx Space Academy website and vote for him
Voting ends at midnight on April 30.
