BROMLEY Council is hoping that new CCTV cameras will combat antisocial behaviour and fly-tipping.

Two existing cameras in Cotmandene Crescent, St Paul’s Cray, are to be replaced, and a new camera installed in Star Lane, St Mary Cray.

The new cameras will enable operators to better monitor the streets, identify incidents, and co-ordinate appropriate response from emergency services.

Meanwhile a new transmission system is being established in order to minimise expense.

Executive Member for Public Protection and Safety Councillor Tim Stevens said: “We have listened to the views of local people which have been brought to our attention through local councillors and the newly formed Star Lane Residents’ Association.

“It was clear that there was a very real need for these improvements to the system to protect the public as they work, socialise and travel.”

Oh WHAT?

What difference is a CCTV camera going to make in Star Lane? How long before it gets pinched?

And Tim, don't be like Dear Stephen, wear a hat.
